Historic manor-houses and beautiful shops in the village centre turn this picturesque town into a popular attraction with its versatile shopping and entertainment offers. Next to cultural highlights like the Arcade Court Lechner or the Village Museum there is also a wide range of sports and leisure facilities. From outdoor swimming pool, indoor pool, tennis court to beach volley ball area – there is definately no time to get bored. Interesting information linked with outdoor activity offer historic theme trails like the millions trail or the provisions trail as well as the newly designed landscape park with the geological trail. A destination with many extras is the adventure & fun mountain Wurbauerkogel. Originally known through a nostalgic chair lift leading directly from the village centre to the top of the mountain featuring Austria’s second longest summer toboggan track. Today two more highlights have been added – the new panorama tower offers stunning views of 21 mountain peaks over 2000 m high and an interesting exhibition including a ” rock cinema” of the Kalkalpen National Park. At the bottom of the mountain the Alpine Coaster - our new all-weather fun event with lots of turns, jumps and steep passages guarantees fun & action. The Cultural Hall Römerfeld offers a wide range of events. Concerts, theatre performances, literature readings, exhibitions etc. take place in this 500 seater venue, which has become very popular far beyond the local region. Every year the small arts festival is held here with well known local artists, like Hader, Düringer & Co. A yearly definite in the events calender of the region is the International Lederhosen Meeting and the VW-Beatle Meeting, which are timed traditionally for the last weekend in July. Out of the ordinary local traditional cloths, crafts and varied musical fringe events next to roaring motors are at the foreground and cause a big sensation year for year. |
