St. Pankraz is the youngest and smallest village in the holiday region Pyhrn-Priel and is situated at the southern end of the Reservoir in Klaus. The river Teichl and the Teichl Valley shape the untouched and quiet natural setting of St Pankraz in summer. The beautiful surroundings of St. Pankraz, neighbouring the Kalpalpen National Park are ideal for a hiking holiday as well as biking, fishing and horse riding. The small village has its name to fame due to ski world cup champion Hannes Trinkl, who was born and raised here and the unique Poacher´s Musuem, which displays the history of poaching in a very original way. Cultural scientist and university professor Dr. Roland Girtler designed the exhibition offering insight into the life and romance of the poacher in the oldern days, as is often theme of old regional films. Further sights are the local church Pfarrkirche des Heiligen Pankratius with the baroque courtyard, a number of small monuments and the natural cathedral, named Teufelskirche. |
