Angling and fishing enjoys an upward trend at the Pyhrn-Priel holiday region with its versatile offers. If you are a fishing entusiast, then this is the specialist group for you.

The beautiful landscape of picturesque lakes, wild romantic streams and rivers are the perfect setting for the fishing entusiast. On top of the outstanding beauty of our landscape, the extremely high water quality and the mostly traffic free areas are a major attraction.


The waters of the Pyhrn-Priel holidy regions belong to the trout region, the river Steyr above the reservoir in Klaus is known as grayling region. The brown trout is the main fish in the area, rainbow or salmon trouts can also be found. Graylings and the cottus gobio are frequently found in our waters. The reservoir at Klaus also has lake and salmon trouts. Some waters contain carps, hikes and freshwater herring. The reservoir offers optimal living conditions for the European or noble crayfish , a project supported by the provindial government and the provincial fishing club since 1999.

A valid fishers liscence is required to fish in Upper Austria (photo ID). Official fishing liscences of other provinces or countries are accepted. Each fisher has to have a liscence book, issued for every calender year. The liscence book can be purchased for € 13,-- at all liscence offices.

Fishing in Upper Austria is subject to local legislations, rights for changes and possible restrictions are reserved by the individual management of the waters.
