The „Kneipp“ Method – a health program based on five principles
© Gmd. Hinterstoder/Schachner
Water: The Kneipp Method is based on hydrotherapie using cold, temperate, warm or hot water and is well established in modern medicine. The water applications achieve both short and long term effects. This stimulation therapy has an effect on the temperature regulating system of the body. The temperature sensors of the skin are activated by the water application and stimulate the body to induce balancing counter actions. Certain stimulations also have a positiv effect on corresponding inner organs.
Movement: Movement is of high priority in the Kneipp Method. Regular movement supports the heart and circulation system, reduces stress and relaxes. Movement also enhances restful sleep and activates digestion and the metabolism. Using the Kneipp Method on a regular basis, including the use of the barefoot organ clock strengthens the immune system.
Nutrition: Healthy nutrition is also part of the Kneipp Method – according to the principles of wholefood: as natural as possible, lots of fresh fruits, grains and native vegetable oils. Alcohol, nicotine and sugar are not suitable for a healthy life style. A well balanced diet low in fat and high in fresh ingredients support an inner balance and zest for life.
Herbs: Plants have been used throughout mankind for healing purposes and are part of the Kneipp Method. Plants also contain vitamins, their etheric oils, tannins and bitter substances have a strong antibacterial and antispasmodic effect. Mild but effective healing herbs are used in the form of teas, juices, creams or bath additives. The scent of healing herbs also has a relaxing or invigorating effect.
Joie de vivre: The art to enjoy life is an essential element of the Kneipp Method. Along the Kneipp Promenade you will find a stone table situated in a park opposite the municipal office of Hinterstoder, where you can play the „Stoder Time Hiking Game“ using a few pepples off the floor to get you into the mood of the Kneipp Promenade.
