Alpineum Hinterstoder - "Flötzer, Firn Ice and steep Rock"

Hinterstoder features one of Europe’s 25 most original exhibition centres, the alpine museum ALPINEUM.

Hinterstoder, known as tourism village, Ski-WorldCup Village and popular destination with well groomed hiking trails at the foot of the Tote Gebirge mountain range, also has a lot of culture to offer besides the exceptionally beautiful landscape and great sports infrastructure.

The ALPINEUM, a modern construction made of wood and glass, portrays the development of the mountain farm village to a leading summer and winter sports destination.
The total exhibition area of 500 m² has a permanent exhibition focusing on winter sports and alpinism, which occupies 400m² , the remainder is available for constantly changing special exhibitin topics.

The development of alpine ski sports and races are topics for winter sports.
The fascination of the alpine world, mountaineering and rock climbing in all forms, the development of Upper Austria’s Alps compared internationally, as well as mountain rescue and mountain guides of by-gone days and today, are all portrayed.

Modern technique and varied design, historic and latest videos as well as accustic effects ensure surprising moments for the visitor. The down-hill simulator gives visitor’s an idea of the racing speed experienced and avalange rescue techniques are portrayed in spectacular manner.

The museum, where mountains turn into an experience.
