Benedictine Monastery of Kremsmünster

The Benedictine Monastery of Kremsmünster was founded in 777 by the Bavarian Duke Tassilo III. – according to legend at the exact location where his son Gunther died due to a hunting accident.
Due to the renovations and extentions done by Carlo Antonio Carlones and Jakob Prantauers during the 17th and 18th centuriest, Kremsmünster is one of Austria´s most important baroque monasteries. The observatory, a natural history musuem and research institute since 1758 in the oldest skyscraper in Europe - is an invitation to look and explore.
