Alpineum Hinterstoder

The ALPINEUM, a modern structure made of wood and glas, displays the development of Hinterstoder from a mountain farmers village to a leading summer and winter sport tourism village.

The exhibition area of 500 m² has dedicated a part to a constantly changing special exhibition area, next to a permanent exhibition area focusing on winter sports and alpinism. The versatile design coupled with modern high-tech presents historic and latest videos as well as acustic sound effects, which surprise the visitor over and over again. A downhill race simulator gives the visitor an idea of the speed experienced by alpine ski racers and a detector for people burried under avalanches forms part of an impressive display of alpine rescue techniques.

from Windischgarsten via Vorderstoder to Hinterstoder; next to info office; A 9 Pyhrn-Highway, Exit Hinterstoder/St. Pankraz, B138 - turn off Hinterstoder or from Kirchdorf along the B138 to Windischgarsten, turn off Hinterstoder.
by public transport:
take the Riedler-Bus (Routes 431 a. 432) to bus stop Hinterstoder Ort (village)
