The water nature trail leads you along the Pyhrn and Teil streams - along the way you also get to know the Pflegerteich pond - to the valley station of the Wurzeralm funicular.
11 information boards give interesting facts about the flora and fauna as well as geological information and bring you closer to ecological contexts. The approx. 5 km long path is situated between the village of Spital am Pyhrn and the bottom station of the Wurzeralm funicular. The signposts with information boards start about 2 ½ km from the village centre, the path is well made amd therefore ideal for young and old.
What you always wanted to know: How long does a toad take to cross the B138? What is the favourite food of a trout? How do limestone caves evolve?
You'll find the answers to these and many other questions along the nature trail. Find out how how the smallest creatures live in the Teichl and Pyhrnbach streams and how the water quality can be influenced. Solve the fish puzzle and get to know the different types of trees. Learn why groves on the banks are important for waters and what influences shape the forest in Spital. Undertake a journey back in time to the Iron Age, in which the landscape around Spital am Pyhrn was formed. And get to know the Pflegerteich pond, which is used every year by many thousands of toads and frogs as spawning waters.
A detour to the 2nd source of theTeichl stream (the source can be found up at the Wurzeralm).
The nature trail accompanies the Teichl and Pyhrnbach streams through the valley. The Teichl, however, originates high up in the area around the Brunnsteiner Lake and winds its way through moorland of the Teichlboden where is suddenly disappears and reappears in the valley.
