Gowilalm Pasture & Alpine Hut

One of the starting points to the Gowilalm pasture & alpine hut is at the Flinderl mill in Oberweng at Spital am Pyhrn, parking areas between the Jausenstube Singerskogel (cafe) and Goslitzbauer (farm) in Oberweng.

From here trail nr. 616 leads along a forest road, steadily uphills, mostly through shady mountain forests to the Gowilalm. The lower part of the trail is also part of the mountain bike trail „Oberwenger Panoramaroute“. A second starting point is from the parking area of the Großhütte in Oberweng via the forest road to the Sonnleithner gravel pit, slightly rising. The path leads into trail nr. 8 and from the saddle with stunning view trail nr. 618 leads to the Holzeralm alpine hut (not managed). This part of the trail is also part of the „Oberwenger Panoramaroute“ mountain bike route. Trail nr. 617, leading through the romantic Goslitztal valley via blooming alpine meadows past the Stefansbergalm alpine hut (partly managed) meets up here as well. Trail 617/618 leads from the Holzeralm alpine hut slowly rising over an alpine meadow, then steeply rising to the Gowilalm alpine hut.
Total walking time about 1 ½ hrs.

The destination is very rewarding; the Gowilalm pasture is a relatively small and beautiful hiking pasture. Your hostess will spoil you with local specialities from her own organic farm as well as other delicacies.

The Gowilalm is starting point for summit tours to the Small Pyhrgas (2023 m), trail nr. 617, 1 ½ hrs walking time or to the Great Pyhrgas (2244 m), trail nr. 616, about 3 hrs walking time. From the trainstation in Spital am Pyhrn via trail nr. 616 and 617 to the Gowilalm (walking time: 3 hrs.)
