From the ÖAV-Berggasthaus (Austrian Alpine Club Mountain Inn) Linzerhaus at the Wurzeralm in Spital am Pyhrn follow the international far distance trail nr. 201 along an even path to the lake Bunnsteinersee. From the lake a steep but safe ascent leads to the saddle of the “Red Wall”. Continue along the ridge to the saddle and follow a short descent over a meadow to get to the onset of the “Dead Man” – sure-footedness necessary! From there a slightly ascending rock plateau leads to the summit of the Warscheneck mountain.
Long distance trail nr 201 leads down to the alpine hut Zellerhütte and on to Vorderstoder and Hinterstoder.

From the Frauenkar via the easy climb of the southeast ridge to the Warscheneck.
From the bottom station of the Frauenkar double chair lift trail nr. 218 turns off to „Eiserner Berg “. Partly along the ski piste and further through rocky terraine and a sparse larch forest a well marked trail without number turns off to the mountain station of the Frauenkar chair lift. In a ditch just before the mountain station a marked ascent leads via the “Wiederlechnerstein” rock to the Warscheneck. The trail is well secured with grips, ropes and clamps.
Walking tome from the Frauenkar mountain station about 1 ½ hrs.
From the bottom station of the Frauenkar about 2 ½ hrs.
The Frauenkar double chair lift operates from the beginning of July to the beginning of September every Wednesday - Saturday – Sunday and Public Holiday and only on clear days!
