The Wasserklotz is a viewpoint mountain situated in the southern t ein Hintergebirge mountain range with a circular view onto 54 summits over 2000m of altitude.

To the west you will find the mountain ranges of the Totes Gebirge with the great Priel, the Sengsengebirge with its lonesome areas, to the south the jagged row of the Haller Mauern, to the east the Gesäuseberge, Hochschwab area and Ötscherland and to the north the neverending forests reaching into the Enns valley – on very clear days you can see all the way to the Böhmerwald forest and the Waldviertler hills.

Trail description: behind the Zickreith-Hut at the Hengst pass in Rosenau a forest road turns to the north leading to the edge of the forest high above a ditch to the meadow of Kreuzau. Continue straight ahead, again ascending through forests and passing below the Zeitschenberg mountain (always continue straight and sty on the marked forest road).

Soon you will reach the pastures of the Dörflmoaralm and the Hanslalm, a managed alpine hut during summer. Turn right and follow the marked hiking trail crossing the meadow slope to the Ahorn saddle. Then turn right onto a marked forest path ascending in many turns next to a groove. The steep ascent takes you to the summit cross of the Wasserklotz mountain.

The descent from the Wasserklotz is via the other side of the summit along a marked climb through the forest.
