Riesergut - Spitzmäuerl - Filzmooseralm

Hike along the Steinergut farm (sign) in Vorderstoder along the Ramseben private road, turn off to the right at the carpenters workshop Rohregger and head for the Riesergut farm, passing a few houses and leading through forests and over meadows (walking time about 40 min.). You can also stay on the Ramseben private road and turn right to the Riesergut farm after about 1,5 km.

Trail Nr. 5 leads from a the tarred access road to the Riesergut farm to the Spitzmäuerl. The trail is rather steep and splits to the right into the foot path to the Spitzmäuerl and into the Karrenweg path, leading directly to the Rieseralm pasture. The Spitzmäuerl is a large and high rock with stunning views. Although the viewing area is well secured, you are advised to look after your children! The climb from the Spitzmäuerl leads slightly uphills for about 1 hr. to the alpine plateau of the Rieseralm pasture ( alpine meadow only, the hut does not exist any more), from here you can continue along a forest road to the Filzmoseralm pasture (not managed). There is another way to get to the Filzmoseralm pasture:
Stay on the Ramseben private road, pass the Family & Country Hotel Lindbichler , at about 60 m after the Hubertus chapel turn right and follow the forest road to the third bend, where the viewing rock called Hirschmauer is positioned to the left (well worth a detour, but beware of falling off the rock!) The trail to the Filzmoseralm pasture then continues along a forest road (passing a small alpine hut) führt entlang der Forststraße (an einer kleinen Almhütte vorbei). Stay on the road until you reach the alpine hut.

This forest road offers stunning views over the Stoder valley and to the mountain peaks all the way. Especially in autumn this trail is highly recommended.
Our suggestion: Take the trail up to the Filzmoseralm via the Spitzmäuerl and return on the easier forest road trail to the Family & Country Hotel Lindbichler.
