Windhager Lake

Trail-Nr: 2, 4
Walking time: about. 2,5 hrs.
Level of difficulty: red
Refreshment stops: Dorfstüberl, Stockerwirt, Bergpfeffer
Starting point is the municipal office in Vorderstoder. Turn off the main road after about 600 m and take trail nr. 2/4 leading from the bridge into a forest road to the Schafferteich (pond). Walk through the forest slightly uphills, then cross a meadow before continuing through the forest again until you reach a fork in the trail (walking time to here about 25 min.). From here keep to the right and continue up the forest to a private road leading to the left and slightly downhills.

Pass a small house and walk over small meadows and through small forest parts to a stream. Later on you pass a pasture, the Michl-Reith along a forest road, which you follow downhills for about 100m, then turn right through light forest leading steep uphills, continue on a flat part through the forest and the last part also partly on a forest road until you get to the Windhager lake.
The Windhager lake is an oasis of silence surrounded by forest. There is a hunting lodge on the banks of the lake and resting benches invite you to take a peaceful rest. The water level of the lake varies throughout the year and there is no visible in- and outflow. During dry periods you can walk all the way around the lake.
