Some find their thrills in climbing demanding summits, while others prefer relaxed hikes in untouched surroundings. The Pyhrn-Priel Region offers both plus a range of exciting themes to explore.

The Kalkalpen Trail for example offers 156 km of pure hiking experience, a long distance hiking trail consisting of 11 sections leading through the Kalkalpen National Park and the Pyhrn-Priel Holiday Region. The Scythe Theme Trails in Roßleithen lead through beautiful landscape while telling you about the cultural history of the region. The circular hiking trail of the Wurzeralm NatureExperienceWorld however explains the development of the Alps and the CircularHikingWorld in Hinterstoder offers you 13 different circular hiking trails for your hiking pleasure. The concept of the many circular hiking trails is take you back to your starting point without having to return on the same path to maximise your hiking experience.

Kids on tour
The "Theme Trail „Nature Tracks“ at the Wurbauerkogel features eight mainly interactive stations – a true hiking adventure for the little ones. The “Fairy Tale Rubbing Hikes” at the Stodertal valley or the mystery game along the Scythe Theme Trail are fantastic hiking motivators for kids. The Oberwenger Barefoot Trail offers fun for both young and old.

Even our youngest guests, not able to walk yet, can enjoy a hiking holiday with the family, as many of the hiking trails are suitable for prams.

Kalkalpen Trail – a new destination every day
Fascinating panoramic views, coupled with breathtaking natural spectacles and century-old history! The Kalkalpen Trail leads along 156 km and a total of 18.000 metres of altitude over 11 easy stages through the Kalkalpen National Park and the Pyrhn-Priel Holiday Region...

Circular Hiking World Hinterstoder
The Stoder Valley makes for an ideal hiking paradise with its wide and sunny basin, its lush meadows, forested slopes and rugged mountain peaks. 13 new circular hiking trails as well as the „Flötzer“ theme trail extend the existing hiking offers and truly round things off – in the Circular Hiking World Hinterstoder.

The vast variety of paths, short and long routes on all levels of altitudes and difficulty result in a network of hiking trails with a total length of more than 100 km.

Let the scythes show you the way in Roßleithen!
Starting point for all trails at the Info-Point directly in the centre of the village.
All trails are partly accessible for prams and wheelchairs, except the „Yellow Trail“ which is fully wheelchair friendly.
In winter the trails are open subject to snow conditions


Dolomitensteig Climb
Start and finish of this beautiful panorama hike is the tavern of Baumschlagerreith situated at the end of the Stodertal Valley.

Oberweng Barefoot Trail
Walking time: approx. 1 hour
Length of trail: 1,2 km
Stops: at the playground, at the viewing point

Circular walk "Along the Alpine Meadows"

Altitude: between 780 and 880 m

Theme walk "Path of Millions"
Varied circular walk with just two uphill parts, particularly suitable for families; sturdy walking shoes or training shoes recommended.
