Verified Criteria of the Hiking Specialist Establishments

All establishments of the "hiking specialists" have to fulfill certain quality criteria, which are controlled on a regular basis.

General pre-requisites are:
- quiet position
- close to hiking opportunities
- owner has „hiking competence“ has a sense for nature and ecology.
- staff members are also able to give hiking information
- maps of the Pyhrn-Priel-Region an adjacent areas
- guide books on hiking, the countryside, local plants, mushrooms and animals and cultural events and facilities
- infos on mountain guides, cable cars, museums, leisure facilities and public transport
- Kalkalpen National Park information
- hiking taxi information
- info on alpine huts, pastures and local taverns and inns
- hiker’s first aid

The following rental equipment for hikers is available at each establishment:
- shoe cleaning facility
- shoe drying room
- hiker’s first aid
- hiking or telescope hiking poles
- Nordic-Walking poles
- hiker’s rucksacks
- thermal flasks

The following services are offered by establishments of the "hiking specialists" :
- assistance in organising hiking tours
- min. of one organised hiking tour per week
- early breakfast possible
- lunch package service
- locating of sauna and massage facilities if not inhouse
- locating of courses (Nordic-Walking)
- weather info
- general alpine and hiking tips

The sport shops in and around the Kalkalpen National Park offer all equipment needed for hiking or rock climbing, should you not bring your own. Certain equipment can also be rented.
